As 2013 came to an end, the country and its economy continued on a positive, upward trend accelerating the energy and enthusiasm for new innovation and product development in the corporate sector. With US stock indexes realizing their largest gains in years (Dow Jones Industrial Average soaring 26%, S&P 500 up 29% and Nasdaq up nearly 40%), companies and inventors are more optimistic than ever about the development of new innovation.
With each new year, InventionHome takes the opportunity to reflect on the highlights and successes from the previous year and 2013 proved to be a fun, exciting and successful year.
Here are our “Top 10” highlights from 2013
1. Product Success
In addition to nearly 20 completed license agreements in 2013, we managed over 950 product interest reviews throughout the year, finishing the year with 184 products under review and consideration by companies.
2. National Product Launches
It was a rewarding year for us as several of our licensed products launched nationally finding success in the “As Seen on TV” market and selling in major retailers across the country. Our “As Seen on TV” products include: Bake-A-Bone TM, TurboRoaster TM, and EZPockets TM. In addition, some of our other licensed products (such as The Caution Clip and Grab-A-Card) sold in national accounts such as Wal-Mart, Lowe’s, Duane Reade, Staples, SnapOn, MAC Tool, MATCO, ACE and Michael’s.
3. National morning shows feature our products
NBC’s “Today Show” and ABC’s “Good Morning America” both had segments featuring InventionHome licensed products. They featured the TurboRoaster™ and EZPockets™. You can watch the clips here:

4. 3rd Annual DRVT Product Summit
We hosted our 3rd Annual DRTV Product Summit where we brought six leading “As Seen On TV” companies to Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, PA to meet with 24 aspiring inventors to pitch their products. Inventors were invited to submit their products for a chance to be selected to attend; each inventor selected was given ten minutes with each of the six companies to pitch their product (60 minutes total). 5. Trade Shows Sponsorships
2013 was another great year for us in the area of trade shows. We sponsored inventor areas at numerous national trade shows, bringing great opportunity and exposure to inventors and providing companies the opportunity to see the latest innovations from independent inventors in one central location. Shows included: PGA Merchandise Show, National Hardware Show, Response Expo, Global Pet Expo, and the International Home and Housewares Show.
6. Rubbermaid & Irwin Tools Product Hunt at the National Hardware Show
We were pleased to team with the National Hardware Show to offer their Inventors Spotlight exhibitors a chance to meet and pitch their products face-to-face with Rubbermaid and Irwin Tools (both part of Newell-Rubbermaid).
7. Customer Satisfaction
Our continued focus on delivering high quality services and support helped us maintain a customer satisfaction rating consistently above 98%.
8. Network Membership
In addition to maintaining our existing network of thousands of companies, we added hundreds of additional companies to our network. We also continued to help companies automate their process of managing product submissions through our turnkey submission management system, Submit My Invention. Our system is currently being used by a wide range of companies across many categories.
9. Google Features InventionHome
Each year Google recognizes one company per state across the United States to feature in their annual economic impact report. In 2013, we were selected as Pennsylvania’s featured company, a state with more than 60,000 businesses.
10. InventionHome turned 10 years old in 2013
Finally, we celebrated our 10th year helping inventors and companies connect for the purpose of licensing new innovation, marking another great milestone in our history.
