Two years ago, Crown Bolt received a challenge from their biggest customer – drive innovative products. No simple task, to be sure. Crown Bolt was getting plenty of ideas through their relationship with InventionHome, but they needed to open the innovation door even further to inventor submissions. Through InventionHome’s Product Hunt program, Crown Bolt was able to tap into a vast network of independent inventors to really boost the number of external submissions they receive. Here’s how:
- InventionHome implemented their web-based submission system (SMI) for Crown Bolt, equipped with lots of features to enable them to collect, review, and catalog each submission with ease.
- Every month, InventionHome promotes Crown Bolt’s desire for new products (the “product hunt”) to their vast network of inventors through many outlets including: social media, website, newsletters, blogs and emails.
- Inventors are encouraged to submit their product ideas directly to Crown Bolt via the submission system. If Crown Bolt finds a product they like, they communicate directly with the inventor/product owner to reach a deal.
For years, Crown Bolt has relied on InventionHome “HotLinks” as a resource for new product ideas, and being able to accept product submissions directly from inventors has added yet another option for them. “Since engaging InventionHome for the product hunt, we have a better pipeline of ideas than ever before,” says Matt Steele, Crown Bolt’s Sr. Marketing Director.
