H.B. Reese concocted the chocolate and peanut butter cup in the basement of his home in 1928. This enterprise turned out to be much more successful than Reese could have predicted and he quickly quit his job and purchased a large factory on Chocolate Avenue in Hersey, PA.
The peanut butter cups became widely known simply as Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, however the brand has expanded to include a variety of products through the years. It is now owned by Hershey, after Reese’s sons sold the family business in 1963. Though they have some close competition, Reese’s snack size cups are the number one selling Halloween candy. Rounding out the rest of the top 5 are Candy Corn, M&M’s, Snickers, and Kit Kat bars. Trick or treat!
