Did You Know?: September 16th is the first-ever “World Play-Doh Day”

Hasbro has celebrated “National Play-Doh Day” since 2006, but the excitement has grown internationally, resulting in the first-ever “World Play-Doh Day” on September 16th, which aims to inspire artists young and old from across the globe to open up a can of the iconic clay and get creative.

Made of just water, flour, and salt, Play-Doh® is a modeling compound that was originally invented as wallpaper cleaner in the 1930s. However, a classroom of children began using the cleaner as sculpting clay, and the product was re-worked and rebranded for children on the toy market as Play-Doh®. It was first manufactured in only red, blue, yellow, and white, but today Hasbro produces over 50 colors and has sold over two billion cans of Play-Doh®, which is enough cans to reach the moon and back three times!
