Six Leading Infomercial Companies Come Together for the 2011 DRTV Product Summit

DRTV Product Summit

MONROEVILLE, Pa., June 15, 2011 — InventionHome today announced their first DRTV Product Summit, offering the opportunity for inventors to present their products at no cost and in person to six of the industry’s most influential infomercial/DRTV companies.

Top executives from six separate DRTV companies responsible for dozens of hit products including the Snuggie®, TopsyTurvy®, ShamWow!®, Total Gym®, Twin Draft Guard®, Pajama Jeans®, Easy Feet and HD Aviators will be on hand to meet inventors. This one day summit will be held at Robert Morris University near the Pittsburgh airport on September 28th, 2011.

“The Product Summit complements our purpose of supplying innovative products to companies seeking them,” said Russell Williams, President of InventionHome. “The popularity of several national tradeshow areas featuring inventions that we sponsored this spring advanced the idea for a summit where inventors and DR companies can meet for free.”

Colleen Kelly, Director of Marketing at InventionHome, stressed there is no charge for an inventor to pitch their product. “The only out of pocket expenses inventors will incur will be for travel. We plan to keep our Summits to one day with no charge to the inventor” states Kelly. Additionally, Kelly said, “If and ONLY if one of the companies attending the event makes an offer to license or distribute a product and the inventor accepts, is a modest fee assessed in the form of a commission. Tradeshows are a great way to expose your product to companies, but the costs to attend and exhibit can be prohibitive to an inventor.”

Twenty four inventors will be selected to receive 10-minute private sessions with each company in attendance. Products will be selected based on criteria that translate to successful sales on television with subsequent sales to retail stores. Successful Direct Response products typically solve a problem and are easy to demonstrate. They sell for at least 5 times as much as they cost to produce and appeal to a wide audience. Hit TV products have a “wow factor”, that product feature that makes you say “Wow! I need to have that!”, because in some way it is going to make your life a little bit better or easier.

Inventors may submit their products at Submissions will be accepted until August 19th and inventors will be informed by August 31st if they have been selected to attend.

Update: The deadline for product submissions has been extended to Sunday, August 21, 2011.
